Plant Lady — Caroline Beuth

Two plants, a lady, and her love affair with botany. A few days trapped in the house after lockdown phase 3, a nicely lit afternoon and a dress from the closet that hasn’t yet been worn triggered an impromptu photo shoot in the fading afternoon light.

It’s rare I shoot for fun these days, so it was nice to recruit a pair of plants, Caroline, and the patio setting to experiment with the narrow strip of masonry wall usually reserved for the barbecue. I love how the skin tones separate so strongly off the blue/green wall with the ‘bright, indirect light’. A phrase often despised by the plant community for making no sense, yet every photographer nods in approval when they hear the words.

The two plants are only a few months old and are begonia maculata & tradescantia.
