Walhalla

I always get a little disheartened when visiting places of historical significance within Australia. You walk the streets of these towns and see buildings designed with pride, stature and a sense of satisfaction and achievement that they are, in their current state, the physical best they could be.

Quite often today you see entire CBDs knocked together with tilt slab multi-story buildings, bleak concrete lines that run the entire length of streets and surrounds, extinguishing any charm or elegance that was, or could be. It’s sad to see our pride lost in the hunt of savings, but i guess, in turn, it makes places like this more special to the weekend visitor.

Images captured on 30 May 2020, first weekend after the CORVID-19 travel ban was lifted.
