It’s hard being a travel / nature photographer amidst a global pandemic. The entire world and travel industry has shut down indefinitely, with the airline industry in particular taking one of the heaviest of hits.
With the current climate and state of affairs, improvisation is key to be able to continue to explore the globe and fuel that sense of awe and wonder. Conveniently, in August of 2020, Microsoft and Asobo Studios released Flight Simulator 2020 - an entire planet simulator, to be explored by the discipline of aviation. For the next few months, the whole world will be discovered and photographed just as I would in real life, with the exception of an unlimited virtual budget and time. Follow along for the adventure, enjoy a pseudo-realistic take on global travel from the seat of a digital cockpit.
The plan will be to explore country by country, designing the ultimate road map to see as much of a nation as possible via the cockpit of a Cessna 172, bringing you my usual style of one off views through the art of photography. Real world weather will be enabled, as like with real travel - sometimes you’re just in the right place at the wrong time.
